 Church News & Events

Oct 1 Bishop visitation.  We are pleased to welcome the Diocesan Assistant Bishop Gayle Harris this Sunday.  This is especially significant for two reasons; we have not had a bishop visitation since January 19, 2020, and Doris McGehee will be confirmed.  We look forward to meeting Bishop Harris, and we are happy to have Doris as part of the St. John’s parish family.   Potluck luncheon to follow at the parish house.  Hope you can attend this special Sunday.

The Rt. Rev. Gayle E. Harris joined the Diocese of Virginia as Assistant Bishop in 2023.  She was previously Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of Massachusetts.  To learn more about her please search her name online.  She has had an exceptional ministry!

Oct 29 Homecoming: – This is the Sunday we welcome friends who have a connection to St. John’s; maybe the church of ancestors, or where they were baptized, confirmed or married, or where they or someone in their family was a member, or they live in the area and would just enjoy visiting with friends at St. John’s.  We will share in worship and a potluck luncheon afterward.  The restoration of the Cosby family stained glass memorial window is complete and will be blessed at this serviceThe potluck luncheon will take place at the parish house following the service.

Save the Date:  Sunday Nov. 5, 3 p.m. is the next musical afternoon at the church with Matthew O’Donnell.  Traditional Celtic folk music and more!  http://matthewomusic.com/
